GuideTopic: Boundaries

A guide to setting boundaries without guilt

Setting boundaries isn't selfish: it's how we teach others to treat us with care.

A boundary defines what you are willing to accept and what you are not. You don't set it to punish anyone — you set it to protect yourself.

One step at a time

  1. Notice which situation leaves you drained or resentful.
  2. Name what you need instead of what the other person does wrong.
  3. Communicate it clearly and in the first person.
  4. Hold the boundary, even if it feels uncomfortable at first.
